Kids Can Be PeopleSavers!

Does your child know how to help others in an emergency? The upcoming PeopleSavers program at the Clarington Public Library, Bowmanville Branch is designed to teach school aged kids safety awareness and first aid skills.

Developed by the Red Cross, PeopleSavers uses hands-on activities and a participant’s book to teach kids:

•    how to evaluate their surroundings for safety,
•    when, who, and how to call for help in an emergency, and
•    how to care for and comfort an injured person in different situations

The program runs on Monday, March 12: kids 6-8, 10:30 am -12:30 pm; kids 9-11, 1:30-4:30 pm. Advance registration is required and space is limited. Cost: $15 for ages 6 to 8, $20 for ages 9 to 11 payable to instructor; includes participant activity book. Call or visit any branch of the Clarington Public Library to register.

Child-Focused Parenting Plans is a two-hour workshop that gives parents the opportunity to learn, discuss and explore issues related to the creation of a successful parenting plan.

The workshop will cover:

• what a parenting plan is, and why it is important
• how to develop a simple plan
• children’s present and future needs
• parental issues

The workshop takes place on Tuesday, March 27, from 6-8 pm.
